How do I use my eTickets?

You will be emailed an order confirmation that will include your unique Booking Reference Number and a barcode that also contains this number. Please bring this with you and display it at our ticket hut upon arrival. You may print the tickets off or show them on your iPhone/Smart Phone.

Do you issue refunds?

Yes, refunds will be administered should we be forced to close by the Government. Should you need a refund for any other reason, we will need 48 hours notice prior to your visit. Any time after this, you will be offered a transfer and not a refund. 

I don't have a printer...

You can show the tickets on your iPhone/Smart Phone or make a note of the Booking Reference Number and take it with you, along with some ID.

Are there facilities for visitors with disabilities?

Yes, we have spaces for disabled parking next to the station platform, toilets and a wheelchair friendly carriage. We advise you to ring the office before visiting to discuss availability and suitability of our disabled carriage which has room for 1 wheelchair and 4 extra passengers.

Are there any concessionary fares?

Children under 1 year go free. Carers will also have free entry onto site (1 carer per full paying person). Please bring along paper evidence to display when purchasing your tickets or book tickets online and bring the evidence along with you on the day.

Do I need to pre-book tickets?

Yes, tickets must be pre booked in advance.

Do you accept cash on site?

No we don't. Since the Covid-19 pandemic forced us to take payment by credit and debit card only we have realised the vast improvements in security and efficiency. We intend to remain cashless for the foreseeable future. However we do not currently accept American Express cards on site. 

Do you provide cashback facilities?

No - the nearest cash dispenser is in Saffron Walden

Are there baby changing facilities?

Yes, a baby changing station is located within the disabled toilet facilities.

Are there covered areas to shelter from bad weather?

We are primarily an open site with limited shelter. Please be prepared with suitable clothing and footwear.

 

Is there somewhere to leave a buggy/pushchair?

Yes, your buggy can be left in the buggy park while you are on your train ride and collect it afterwards.

Smoking

Smoking or use of e-cigarettes is not allowed anywhere on the site. There is a designated smoking area within the car park.

Are dogs allowed on site?

Yes, dogs are allowed on site but must be kept on a short lead at all times and all mess to be cleared up.

Do you allow open fires or barbecues on site?

No, open fires and barbecues are not allowed.

Is steam guaranteed?

No, but we try our best to run Steam Engines on Saturdays and Sundays and on other specified days subject to weather conditions.

Are there refreshments on site?

An array of homemade hot and cold food and drinks are available from our Woodland Café using locally sourced ingredients. Ice creams are also available during warmer months. 

Is there a charge for Car Parking?

There is no charge for car parking. We have a limited number of spaces on our main site with reserved spaces for disabled (blue badge) holders. Once all the spaces are taken you will be directed to our overflow car park which is situated approximately 300m away up Audley End Road.

Adverse Weather

During adverse weather conditions it may be necessary to suspend train services or close the site at short notice. Please telephone us or check social media before commencing your journey. If the site has to shut on a normal running day and you have booked tickets online you will be able to transfer these tickets to another normal running day. If we close the site on a Special Event we will issue refunds where possible or try and accomodate you on another date/event.

When should I arrive if I have booked tickets online?

If you have purchased tickets online you need to arrive 30 minutes before the time slot you have chosen. This is to allow you enough time to park your car and check in. 

What if I miss my specific train time?

We will do our best to get you onto a later train providing we have availability.
